Gaming accessory brand purchased by HP for $425 million

HP has taken the jump to acquire gaming peripheral company HyperX.

The purchase of the brand was made for a cool $425 million.

This acquisition will give HP a major foothold in the gaming accessories market.

Kingston previously owned the HyperX brand.

While HP has taken over gaming accessories from them, Kingston will still retain ownership of the DRAM, flash, and SSD products that are currently under the HyperX name.

HP has been trying to take a larger foothold in the gaming accessories market for some time, most notably with their acquisition of the Omen brand several years ago.

HyperX has gaming accessories that include a line of Cloud headsets, gaming keyboards, and microphones. Most recently, HyperX announced their first 60 percent mechanical gaming keyboard.

Current HyperX accessory users have been assured that the Ngenuity companion app that is used for some HyperX accessories will continue to exist and will not be rolled into the Omen Control Center software at this time.
