Confirmed! Chrome for Windows 10 is finally getting a dark mode!

A popularly requested feature is going to be coming to Google Chrome! Chrome developer Peter Kasting confirmed on a Reddit thread that “native dark mode is in progress” on the desktop for PCs running Windows 10.

It’s been noted that some people find dark themes to be less straining on the eyes. The only way to have any type of dark mode currently is to switch to Incognito mode and use the default color scheme.

At this time, it’s unknown if dark mode will be coming to mobile, as Google employs different teams for its desktop and mobile Chrome builds.

Google has already announced plans to bring a dark mode option in Chrome for macOS Mojave that is expected to be available in early 2019.

As for enabling dark mode in Chrome for Windows 10 PCs, no timeline has yet been publicly shared.
