Several programs are once again being negatively affected by the Windows 10 Oct 2018 update

Once again, the Windows 10 October 2018 Update is plagued with strange problems.

Currently, it’s been noted that the update has the ability to break the seek bar in Windows Media Player. Microsoft has promised to fix the bug, but they’re playing coy and have only stated that they will address it in an upcoming release.

Another bug that has been reported with this release is that some Win32 programs can’t be set as the default program for a given file type. So, if you would like certain files to always be opened in a specific program, you’re currently unable to set that default. A fix for this problem has been promised by the end of the month.

While not brought about by the update, there are continued concerns that Windows 10 version 1809 doesn’t work with iCloud. Machines with the iCloud are currently blacklisted to prevent them from receiving the 1809 update.

It will be interesting to see how Microsoft addresses these continued issues with their updates in the future.
