New AMD processors bring 7nm improvements

AMD has announced that three new additions to their desktop Ryzen CPU line will be available on July 7th, 2020. Those new additions are the Ryzen 9 3900XT, Ryzen 7 3800XT, and the Ryzen 5 3600XT.

These new CPU designs offer higher performance at the same TDPs as Ryzen 3000 designs. They are also drop-in replacements on AM4 motherboards that supported Ryzen 3000 CPUs and offer small single-threaded performance improvements over the Ryzen 3000’s.

In the 3000XT line, only the Ryzen 5 3600XT retains the included OEM cooler. Both the Ryzen 9 3900XT and the Ryzen 7 3800XT will require consumers to supply their own cooling solution. AMD recommends that users provide a minimum 280mm radiator or equivalent air cooling.

With high performance equipment, the choice of cooling is critical. It’s unlikely that users not following AMD cooling recommendations will reach peak CPU performance.

That’s not all that AMD has announced; they’ve also announced a new motherboard chipset for Ryzen 3000 desktop processor. That new model number is the A520.

Unfortunately, there are no specifications for the A520 yet available.
