Facebook is expected to begin notifying up to 87 million users that their personal information was accessed by a 3rd party.

Facebook recently revealed that the personal information of up to 87 million of their users were accessed by Cambridge Analytica, a political consultancy firm that worked for Donald Trump’s presidential campaign.

As of yesterday, some Facebook users started seeing one of two links at the top of their newsfeed informing them if their data was breached. Both of those links use the header Protecting Your Information, with one focusing on Cambridge Analytica and the other link providing information about controlling which applications and websites currently have access to your data.

Only someone who has a Facebook friend that used the app, “This is Your Digital Life,” are expected to see the Cambridge Analytica warning.

Along with removing apps that have access to your data – Settings > Apps and Websites – we also suggest reading our blog article, “Facebook knows more about you than you might think, and they’re telling anyone willing to pay,” located here: https://rhynonetworks.com/facebook-knows-more-about-you-than-you-might-think-and-theyre-telling-anyone-willing-to-pay/
