Microsoft Word is adding predictive text similar to Gmail. This month, Microsoft will be adding text predictions to Word. Some business users have already reported seeing the new feature crop up in their compositions.
Predictive Text Coming to Word
This new feature will work similarly to Google Docs’ Smart Compose option and their Gmail predictive text counterpart.
By using machine learning, the software will predict what words an author will need in order to speed up their document creation.
The predictive text will appear as grayed-out predictions while users are writing a document. It’s easy to accept the predictions by simply hitting the Tab key.
Predictions can also be rejected by hitting Escape.
Predictive Text is the Future
It is also possible for users to completely disable any text predictions from appearing in Word, should any users be more comfortable without them.
Microsoft also rolled out identical text predictions in Outlook for Windows last month in an effort to allow users to compose their emails faster.
