Thousands of businesses have been negatively affected by Comcast’s outage

Thousands of businesses across the nation have had their operations put on hold as Comcast’s Xfinity phone service suffered a massive outage.

Along with affecting the thousands of companies that largely rely on landline access, the service interruption also affected some 911 services. The most affected areas appear to be the Pacific Northwest, California, and Florida.

On Twitter, hundreds of users complained about the phone outage and the effect it’s having on their businesses as they scramble for ways to keep their communications flowing and losses at a minimum.

Comcast acknowledged the issues, and released a statement. “We experienced a service interruption today with our Comcast Business Voice and VoiceEdge Select services and we apologize,” a company spokesperson said. “Our engineers began working to address the issue immediately and services have been restored for most of our customers. We recognize that some customers are still impacted and we expect the issue to be fully resolved shortly. We have every resource focused on getting everyone back online and apologize again to the customers who were affected.”

While service has been restored for most of their customers, it raises concerns about how impactful vital services can be on daily operations.

With Comcast’s outage throttling business operations for an entire day, the cost to businesses is high. Hopefully, they can get service restored to all of their users soon.
