NVIDIA issued an important security patch

NVIDIA has issued a security update that fixes three high- and medium-severity security issues in the NVIDIA GPU Display Driver that can cause a number of problems with code execution, denial of service, escalation of privileges, or information disclosure on vulnerable Windows machines.

If hackers were to exploit the flaws that lead to a denial of service state, they could render vulnerable computers temporarily unusable. They could also run commands or code on compromised machines.

In addition to that, escalation of privileges flaws in the NVIDIA GPU Display Driver make it possible for attackers to elevate user privileges, which grant them permissions beyond the ones initially granted by the system. As a result, they would have access to even more sensitive data than the device they hack is typically able to access.

In order to exploit the recently-patched flaws, would-be attackers require local user access, but they could also exploit them by remotely dropping malicious tools through various other means onto computers running unpatched NVIDIA GPU Display Driver version.

Thus, NVIDIA advises all users to update their drivers as soon as possible to avoid potential security problems. You can find the security update on the NVIDIA Driver Downloads page. https://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx
